We all become invisible. Most of us find that we have less and less friends , when we need them the most. We start to fade, slowly, becoming a shade a shadow, and soon, we become invisible.
Sadly invisibility is thought to be contagious, and we do not dare speak of it, or even admit that it exists.
We rather cheer for the wealthy and famous beautiful people we see in the box that steals our lives. Glamor and richness blinds us to the point we forget what really matters. We day dream of life told to us from our box.
This image was shot during my trip to Portugal, the original intent of this image was a portrait of my eldest son standing in front of the church , how ever my attention was quickly moved to the reality just behind him.
I could see the invisible people peaking behind him, from the shadows of the house , we so foolishly believe believe to offer protection to those most in need. The invisible.
There is a book called this and in it, a older lady feels that is how her life has become Invisable, but it turns into a murder mystery and I loved it, but what she said in the book is similar to your explanation, I think we all feel like this at one time or another, Great Capture and thoughts Jack!! Thats just reality in our civilisation! Great impression, thank you for that! The only thing I can critisize is that I would photograph this sadness from more below to get on the same level like these poor people...hop you understand what I mean!?
Thanks Ruben, I really do understand what you are referring to, I agree it would make a more powerful image, how ever I tried to be discrete with the shot, as I did not want them to feel uncomfortable, My soon was standing to the left of my shot and was in the frame during the shot. For all intents and purposes they were not aware that they were the main subject of my image. I tried not to influence the image by my presence, tried to keep it as natural as possible. I hope you understand what I am trying to say.
